At 5 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 while performing normal maintenance at the Kittery Water District’s Filtration Plant, a malfunctioning valve was encountered that prevented completion of that maintenance and also normal filtration and pumping of water. An emergency was declared and the emergency connection with York Water District was opened and we are presently receiving water from them. KWD crews are working diligently to correct the problem, but at present there is no estimate of completion time.
UPDATE: At 3:05 p.m. on December 29, 2021, normal operation was restored at KWD’s Filtration Plant and the emergency connection with York Water District was terminated.
